Jana Withers is an "Award Winning " Artist who "Creates Art for the Love of Art!" She was born in Iowa, lived a brief time in Ohio, grew up in Florida, spent eight years in Kentucky, and re-united with her home state of Florida in 2001. She became enchanted with a pencil as soon as she was old enough to hold one and had her first artwork exhibited at a Children's Art Museum at the age of nine. Jana is the eldest of seven children who grew up being referred to by their parents as "The Lucky Seven."
After earning her BA Degree in Business from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida, Jana continued her education at the University of Tampa in Tampa, Florida, and later studied fine arts with both Nationally and Internationally Acclaimed Artists. Her works can be found in private collections throughout the United States and in Canada. While her medium of choice is oil, her works also includes pencil, acrylic, watercolor, and pastel.
Jana believes learning is a life long journey and she intends to continue her own art education while helping other "Aspiring Artists." She has taught adult art studies at The Progress Energy Art Gallery in downtown New Port Richey, Florida, in her private studio located in Spring Hill, Florida, and at the West Campus of Pasco Hernando Community College for the Continuing Education Department located in New Port Richey, Florida. For the past three years, Jana has provided instruction for the Teen Art Camp at the Hernando County Family YMCA in Spring Hill, Florida.
Today, Jana resides in Spring Hill, Florida with her husband Larry and their dalmation "Baby Girl.". Her son Jason and her stepson Michael have brought five beautiful grandsons into her life. Grandma Jana and Grandpa Larry love their new role as Grandparents. Jana is a member of The Pasco Fine Arts Council, Dunedin Fine Arts Center, Progress Energy Art Gallery, Spring Hill Art League, Tarpon Springs Art Association, Florida Watercolor Society, and Florida West Coast Plein Air Painters.
Capturing the vibrancy and beauty of the outdoors "En Plein Air" has become Jana's most recent artistic expression and she looks forward to offering art instruction "En Plein Air" in the near future.
