Jana Withers is an "Award Winning " Artist who is recognized as a Conservationist, Artist, and Educator. She was born in Iowa, lived a brief time in Ohio, grew up in Florida, and spent eight years in Kentucky. She became enchanted with a pencil as soon as she was old enough to hold one and had her first artwork exhibited at a Children's Art Museum at the age of nine. Today, her goal is to find ways to protect our dissapearing landscapes and her love of nature is evident in her paintings. Her works can be found in private collections throughout the United States and in Canada. While her medium of choice is oil, works also include pencil, acrylic, watercolor, and pastel.
Jana believes learning is a life long journey and she intends to continue her own art education while helping other "Aspiring Artists." She has taught adult art studies at The Progress Energy Art Gallery in downtown New Port Richey, Florida, at the West Campus of Pasco Hernando Community College for the Continuing Education Department located in New Port Richey, Florida, and at the Hernando County Family YMCA in Spring Hill, Florida. She currently teaches oil painting classes and plein air workshops at Hernando County P.O.P. (People of Passion) arts center located at 417 West Jefferson Street, Brooksville, Florida 34601.
She is a member of the Pasco Fine Arts Council, Dunedin Fine Arts Center, Progress Energy Art Gallery, Spring Hill Art League, Freind of the Hernando County Fine Arts Council, Tarpon Springs Art Association, Florida Watercolor Society, and Florida West Coast Plein Air Painters.
